SDSU Student Housing Quality

An article and an editorial from this week's SDSU Collegian talks about my initiative to increase spending on code enforcement and inspections of rental properties.

"Our focus is to make sure the quality of housing is livable and safe," said Alex Brown, SA president. "Everyone has a right to live in a nice house." - City to make sure rental units up to code

"Hopefully this increase in funding for rental inspections will help spur landlords to take care of the product they are trying to sell and offer better customer service to renters throughout Brookings. In a perfect world, all landlords would care about the well being of their residents, and rental housing inspection wouldn't be necessary. With any luck, the city will be able to use this $60,000 to force the infamous slumlords to cleanup their acts along with their houses." - Rental inspection good idea for all
