Best for Brookings at this time

The first 3 days of the next week are critical to the future of Brookings.  The City Council will be interviewing and deciding if one of the candidates will be offered a job as Brookings next City Manager.  I've posted before that the City Manager is pivotal in making a excellent form of government work.

All three candidates have the qualifications and backgrounds to serve as a City Manager in Brookings.  The question is who is best for the Brookings at this time.

Former SDSU President Peggy Miller was the correct person for SDSU at a time it needed become aware of its potential. President Chicoine is the correct person to capitalize on that potential and use it to improve life in South Dakota.  Brookings first City Manager Mike Williams was critical to the success of transitioning city staff from a commission style government to a council form.  Just recently I was told that about a community that that the transition didn't go well and now have a city coordinator versus a city manager.

I can't share my thoughts on what is needed because I'm sure the candidates are researching / goggling  Brookings and the Council Members for the upcoming interviews.  This information would distort the interview process.  Community members are welcome to comment.  I will read the comments but may not post them until the interview process is over.  Or attend the community meet and great this Monday from 5-7pm at the Performing Arts Center.  Talk to the candidates yourself and come back and post your thoughts on who should be the next City Manager.
