Brookings Banter

Council Member Mike Reitz notified the Mayor and Council that he will be resigning effective July 30.  He is moving out of town and will no longer qualify for the seat he was elected to twice.

I enjoyed serving with Mike.  Mike did his research and was always prepared for the meetings.  He was very helpful with public safety issues using his background as a member of our volunteer fire department.  Mike's background as a manufacturing director at Rainbow Play Systems helped guide city policy.  The city would be considered a large business and you find that most Council Members have small business or self-employed backgrounds.

Mike served his country as member of the armed forces including a tour in Iraq, served his community as a volunteer firefighter and member of the City Council.

Agree or disagree about his politics he served Brookings well.
